Your wallet, your responsibility
You approve every payment
Your 12 recovery words reopen your wallet. Keep them private, store them safely and finish the backup check. We cannot recover lost words for you.
Learn how to protect your wallet on the web and on your phone. Authentication and backups vary by device; the desktop app also uses encrypted backup files. The Android app is being updated in stages.

| 12 recovery words | What can go wrongIf a company holds your recovery data, it may also be able to restore your wallet. | How RavenVault worksWe don’t hold the keys that move your money or your recovery words. Public addresses, balances and transactions can be looked up on the public ledger. |
| Payment approval | What can go wrongWithout the amount and address on the approval screen, you may miss what you’re agreeing to. | How RavenVault worksReview the amount, address and fees, then use your device’s authentication. KRW amounts are references. The phone and web Ravi check uses local records and rules; it does not verify the recipient’s identity. Voice cannot approve payment. |
| Requests from other sites | What can go wrongTrusting another site’s request without checking can lead to an unwanted payment. | How RavenVault worksAn address, QR or link from another site is a request. Review it yourself and approve any payment on the confirmation screen. |
| The app and connected services | What can go wrongYou need to trust the site that loads the app and the services it connects to. | How RavenVault worksThe web app loads its scripts from this site. Connected lookup and AI services receive the requests they need separately. |
| Supported network | What can go wrongMore networks and connected apps mean more things to check. | How RavenVault worksBuilt for Ravencoin (RVN). |
| Without a connection | What can go wrongAssuming you’re always online can lead to mistakes about saved data or payment status. | How RavenVault worksOnce saved, the app can open and approve transactions offline. Approved transactions can travel by QR, but are not complete until recorded on the public ledger. |
Limits you need to know
- Your spending key is on a device that connects to the internet. Keep that device secure and locked.
- No independent security audit has been completed.
- Browser data can be erased. Keep the web or phone wallet’s 12 recovery words separately. For the computer app, also protect your encrypted backup file and its password.
- Wallets sharing the same recovery words also share the risk. If those words leak, all those wallets are exposed.
This describes current behavior. It is not an audit report or a guarantee of security.
How to keep your backups
- Write the web or phone wallet’s 12 recovery words on paper. Keep that paper separately in a safe place.
- Never keep recovery words in cloud storage, photos, notes or messages. Anyone who knows the 12 words can move your funds.
- Put only the backup file locked by the computer app (RavenVault.zip.pxlock) in cloud storage. Keep it in a cloud folder such as iCloud Drive or Google Drive, or on USB, and use “Find backups” in the app to locate it.
- This file alone cannot be opened on another computer. You also need its backup password or backup key. Write that on paper too, and do not keep it in cloud storage.
- We have not yet tested this with iCloud Drive in actual use. An iCloud file that is not downloaded yet starts downloading when it is read, which may take a long time.
A few habits for safer use
- Start with a small everyday balance in the web wallet.
- For larger amounts, use a separate wallet with different recovery words. Don’t share the words with people or sites. Enter them only in the RavenVault app when restoring your wallet.
- Don’t send recovery words to us or Ravi. Keep them out of questions, photos and bug reports.
Start small. Get comfortable.
Try receiving a small amount first, after checking your backup.
